An Obituary

Thu Oct 22, 2009, 6:38 PM
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain
Why the early bird gets the worm
Life isn’t always fair,

and maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.
Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

He declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student, but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home without the burglar suing you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot, spilled a little in her lap and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents Truth and Trust, by his wife Discretion, his daughter Responsibility, and his son Reason. He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers: I Know My Rights; I Want It Now; Someone Else Is To Blame; and I’m A Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

Just looking at a road map, going to Drumheller isn't too bad of an idea. It may make the day longer, driving wise, but at least it's near the 'halfway point' to Banff. For the museum it's $10/adult, and $6 if you're under 18. I'll be willing to pay for some that can't afford it if we decide to do that.

it's about 5½ hours if we go through Drumheller and 4 if we just go to Banff. Of course, if we do Drumheller, it'll make the day a hell a lot longer... We can talk that over tomorrow though :\

Off to work now... *sigh*
:iconvampire-relena:
Alright I shall attempt to gather the participants for tuesday. So far it is you, Sandra, Jennifer, Brittany and myself. Pauline and hannah are probably coming. i have yet to contact Pauline as she is pissy from over working. But hannah will probably be coming as she is much more on things then we are.

As for going through Drumheller and visiting the musueum. I suppose we could but only if it involves minimal money spending. besides we still have to rent the campgrounds and food and GAS. So we shall see what everyones say is on the subject.

Also we were thinking of having it monday - thursday. two days traveling two days their, three nights of sleeping in the woods. Though if you wanted to list the things that you have fore camping and sent it to me that would be of great use.
:iconpolar-dragon:
it looks like I'll have mon-wed for sure off. Sun and thursday are iffy but for sunday, I'd be done at 4ish, so we could leave town after that. Thursday I wouldn't have to be there till 5, so we could spend the morning there, and then make our way back...

But that of course is assuming that everyone else is free :p

Still at work, it's THAT dead. Worse than yesterday, unfortunately.

Just a thought; Could we go through Drumheller? I don't know if that was thought out by anyone, but I wouldn't mind goin to the Tyrell museum. We do have like 5ish days... stay in Drumheller one night and make it to banff the next?

I'm free tuesday if we want to (try) and all get to together and plan this thing out; who's bringing what and all that kind of fun stuff.

Still dead >.>
:iconvampire-relena:
alright that sounds fin. Jennifer and I shall talk it over once we see what everyones sceduale is.
:iconpolar-dragon:
I would have to be back for the thurs. (nobody's allowed to take holidays that weekend) I'll talk to work too see what time I can get off, and I'll let you know what's what later tonite. I'll hope for sunday-wed... although, depending what I get scheduled for we could aim to be back by noon of that thurs
:iconvampire-relena:
we were just planning on going to the banff area. Perhaps when Jennifer and I meet to talk this over we shall make it work out. Do you have to be there all day thursday? Cause I'm sure we could find a way to get you back for BV.
:iconpolar-dragon:
I only have mon-wed available that week :( Maybe I can see about getting sunday too, but Thursday -> on is a no no. (Big Valley)

Where are you guys planning on going?
:iconpolar-dragon:
I'll change it to make more sense
:iconvampire-relena:
I remember simonsons room number being 21 something. band tour makes sense.
:iconpolar-dragon:
no, band tour. Is simonsens 219? weid if it was. Should've been your room
:iconvampire-relena:
"their not prongs their horns" room 219 Simonson? or one of us?
:iconvampire-relena:
Andrew answer us when we're talking to you!
:iconpolar-dragon:
that was a good time. Although I couldn't remember if it was the other way around... "They're not horns... They're prongs!"

doesn't sound funnier that way though ^^;
